Weight Loss Support
By Julia Loggins
Weight loss and diet support is important during your detox. Want a sure-fire way to guarantee success on your detox program and lifestyle change? Find a detox partner; a mate, friend, or co-worker as committed as you to getting healthy and reclaiming their energy. When we are not alone, we feel a confidence and faith that takes us over the bumps and grinds of whatever we might face.
In a detox program, that means there is someone to call when we’re about to cave and swallow that chocolate we’ve sworn off for 21 days, and we are there when our friend—new to food combining—doesn’t remember if carbs and proteins belong at one meal. (They don’t!)
I would not be where I am today without my detox partners. I was lucky enough to have kind souls help me with everything from how to do an enema to laughing with me when the bag broke, and water spilled all over the bathroom floor. You’ve got to laugh on this journey, and that can be a challenging thing to do when we’re alone and frustrated, not always feeling our best, and changing a lifetime of habits and food choices.
We all need cheerleaders in the bleachers, and someone to commiserate with, who is going through exactly what we are. It’s a game changer. The percentage of clients that I treat who have excellent support systems heal five times faster than those who don’t — even if their conditions are serious and long-standing. And they have a much better chance of that vitality lasting, and creating sustainable health and energy.
You may say, “But I just don’t know anyone who wants to give up sugar for 21 days,” or wine, or white flour…but take a moment and really think about it. What about that college room-mate you reconnected with, who said they just can’t stand the extra twenty pounds they’re carrying? What about that mom from the baseball team, who said she’s depressed and wondering if there’s anything natural she can do to lift her mood?
It doesn’t have to be someone you think of as your best friend. After 21 days of swapping stories about the good, the bad and the ugly, they very likely may be someone you’ll never forget. You can have a great weight loss team!
I’d love to hear your stories, crazy as they may be. And I’d love to hear your questions and comments, as well. Let me know what works for you as you and your partner take the leap of faith into a life of joyful energy. I’m right there with you.
