The groundwork of basic truths having to do with gut health was brought to the forefront in Michael Gerson’s book, the second brain are extracted as follows: The gut and brain are connected.
- The gut and brain can both heal.
- There are more nerve pathways from the gut to the brain, than from the brain to the gut.
- There are more nerve pathways from the gut to the brain, than from the brain to the gut.
- Inflammatory gut issues, such as IBS, can trigger nervous system conditions, and visa versa.
Common Sense & Powerful Truths
Some of these truths may elicit an instant, “Oh, yes!, that makes sense.” Others may challenge your current beliefs. I welcome both responses. The goal of the work I do is to teach a deeper connection with the body, mind and spirit. When you accomplish that, the answers that are true for you reveal themselves. Read this with an open mind, and an open heart. We are on the same team here. My intent is of you to enjoy your healthiest and best life. You can heal your gut.
My Top Five Truths to Heal Your Gut
1. Healing your gut is simple, but not easy.
Making the leap from chronic illness to pain-and-flare free in all honesty is not easy, or fast. However, with diligence and consistency, healing is possible.
The video above requires an understanding of nutrition, digestion, elimination and detoxification. When the the gut receives what it needs, you thrive. Even if you have a long history of chronic issues, when you make significant, steady changes, the gut will heal. This alone is extraordinary.
But implementing the practices that create this healing can be challenging. Letting go of patterns and habits is hard work, and requires commitment. Healing a long-term, chronic illness calls for patience and faith. Our instant culture offers precious little support for this. Therefore, the journey is so often a two-steps-forward, one step back experience.
Learning Self-Care Habits to Heal Your Gut
Prioritizing self-care is a strange, new experience. All of a sudden, you realize you are eating differently than your partner, children, or friends. The path to wholeness can be a bit scary, as you create a new you. Have you heard the supposition that most people fear success more than failure? To say “No” to unhealthy foods is to allow success and may be as uncomfortable and unfamiliar as thrilling.
Plus, Implementing non-traditional protocols such as coffee enemas is a courageous step. This is why I created The Gut Fix Formula. This is my step-by-step guide to heal your gut and body and to help you know you are not alone. This system, backed by 40 years of gut coaching is close to stepping into my clinic. You will access my experience and guidance as you heal, without expensive private consultations.
2. Your doctor may not have all the answers.
Most doctors are untrained in treating chronic inflammatory gut. They were taught to diagnose, reduce infections, perform surgery, and prescribe medications. Plus, understand that medical schools require students to take less than 20 hours of nutrition. And, most of that is outdated, Expect your medical experts to care for you when in acute or crisis conditions–they shine in that. The current reality dictates that doctors are not in the best position to heal chronic conditions, including inflammatory gut issues. Therefore, maybe now is the time for you to stop offloading your healing and start learning different healing protocols to heal your gut.
Due to my childhood history in hospitals, I was terrified of conventional medical doctors as I began my healing journey. If you have had less-than-optimal experiences with the medical profession, you may identify with that sentiment. Now, I am so grateful to work with enlightened medical colleagues that truly understand and support the work I do. We do need doctors as the Information they provide is golden. Often, only medical doctors can order tests that define a condition. This is the first step of healing a complicated case.
Learn How to Heal Your Gut on Your Own
In the area of gut-related diet and supplements, you may already know more than your doctor. That is indeed a scary situation, if you place your intention to become symptom-free in traditional medicine’s hands. Understand and realize that it is your responsibility to employ your medical authorities as informative guides. However, their limited toolbox rarely includes every practice and supplement that you might need for complete healing. Also understand that medical professionals are not staying up-to-date with the latest gut research.
3. Genetics play a small role in your ability to heal.
Do not let genetic history intimidate you. DNA testing shows vulnerabilities, and susceptibilities, yet is not a “sentence.” Therefore, if you don’t live, eat, and breathe your parents’ patterns, you can avert these “inherited” health challenges.
Genetics testing may provide invaluable info. If either parent had diverticulitis, you may find your gut is sensitive, as well. Testing may show the MTHFR gene, which signals blocked detox pathways. In that case, your body may struggle to release toxins, and explains why you are prone to allergies, gut, and autoimmune issues. Since I tested for this gene, my detox pathways were blocked. Yet, at 70 years, I am healthier than ever. I have proven that lifestyle changes, diet, supplements, and stress-control can overcome genetics. You too, can be the first in your family to break an inflammatory gut chain.
4. You cannot heal or maintain a clean diet through sheer willpower
You cannot heal or maintain a clean diet through sheer willpower. Character—although a glowing attribute—cannot override cravings caused by bugs, bacteria, or parasites, and subsequent body chemistry. If experiencing candida or yeast overgrowth, you will crave sugar and carbohydrates beyond your control. This can be treated through diet and supplements such my Yeast Be Gone. If parasites are part of the problem, until you do a parasite cleanse everything you eat will cause bloat.
These are physiological symptoms from real, diagnosable causes—they are not in your head! Because cravings are such an obstacle, I decided to offer my clients a formula designed to ease the struggle. When you read the review for Crave Control from my Cleansing for Energy Boutique, you will see Allison Brown found it to duplicate the results of a semi-glutide without the side effects.
One of the best tools for battling cravings is to increase protein. Protein is nature’s antidote for carbohydrates. It also regulates blood sugar and lifts your mood. If you get 120-250 g of protein daily, you may be amazed how cravings diminish. For robust digestion, take a digestive enzyme. Enzyme Energy will help your body assimilate protein instead of sitting in your stomach like a rock. Before I began using digestive enzymes, that was my experience with protein.
5. Healing does not need to cost you a fortune.
Get Smart, Don’t Spend Your Savings
My mission is to help people heal chronic gut conditions. And, I do not want you to spend everything you have to do it. Your money is better spent on healthy food, yoga or dance classes, time away form work, and the key supplements to support gut health. I am committed to saving you money, as well as years of heartache, suffering, and confusion.
Since “gut health” was not even a term when I was healing, i had no access to gut coaches. The name of the game was “trial and error” — lots of it. Some protocols were effective, some disasters. The few gifted and bold natural practitioners that I encountered made the difference. I learned, it is really hard to heal alone. And, guess what—you don’t have to.
Affordable Gut Healing Options
Bear in mind that an effective diet at one point in your life may not serve you later. Lifestyles and bodies are constantly changing. As your needs transform, so do your dietary requirements. In a private coaching call, we will discuss you past health and lifestyle history, present symptoms, and I will review any tests you may have done.
